For the research that was due today, the trend I picked was Delaying marriage. I came up with many interesting articles. One talked about how people put off marriage because of financial reasons such as student loans or credit card debt. One I really found interesting was an article about how women in Beijing China are putting off marriage because of the pressure from there families and once they marry, in the culture that they come from, women don't seek higher education or do other things of there own free will. I read an article about LDS young men and how one 25 year old male was more than happy with being single and didn't mind it staying that way. I found many more articles that had similar messages. Overall, I discovered that both Non-LDS and LDS individuals are delaying marriage.

From our discussion today in class, I reflect on how the world's view of marriage and the LDS Church's view very much differ.  In The Proclamation to the Family, it discusses how marriage is to be between a man and woman.  In our world today, it is becoming more and more common for those of the same gender to marry. In addition, the world would have us think that we can't afford children or that they are a great burden or that they will ruin our figure. The LDS Church commands couples to multiply and replenish the earth and to have as many children as they can handle. I love the church's view on marriage and family. I am excited to get married and start my own family in the future.

The importance of Family

Welcome to my FAML 160 blog! I am so excited to share my thoughts and insights here. Let me start out by saying that family is very important to me. Since I moved from my home back east to here, I have become alot closer with my family. Especially my mother. It is amazing what moving away can do to bring your closer than ever to the ones you love.
